Feature Wall - Painted Stripes!

My favourite feature wall in our home is in our girls bedroom.  Whenever people see the striped wall they always think it's wallpaper...but it's not!!  My beautiful sister-in-law, Anna, and I painted it together.  Now I must give credit where credit is due...Anna is a professional artist and without her this wall would have been a huge FAIL! :)  She is an incredibly talented artist and singer, you must go and check out her blog to see her paintings and listen to her music....her work is incredibly inspiring!

The Colours:  Anna and I brought all of our cans of leftover house paints together and played around until we found a combo we loved.  At first we were going to stay with the neutrals but then last minute we decided to throw in just a few stripes of bright purple to really give it a POP!

Our final colours were:
Benjamin Moore - Tranquility (the entire room was painted this colour first)

The hardest part was keeping the lines straight...definitely a 2 person job!

The secret weapon of perfect stripes?....Frog Tape!  Not just ordinary painters tape (which sometimes bleed)..nope don't do it!  Frog Tape is a little more expensive, but is is SO worth it.  (no...I'm not getting paid to say this!:).  Seriously, I will never go back to the basic tape again.

And the view from the top of the stairs....sigh..so pretty.

Now if I could only get the girls to keep their room clean!

(P.S. The chandelier was a $10 garage sale find!  LOVE finding sweet deals!)

    1. If you can believe it, those bunk beds are from when my husband was a kid! They are solid wood and in great shape, so I just painted them white and "voila!" cute beds for the girls room! :)

  13. That is AMAZING!! I love the look of the different colors and what a great way to use up left over paint! I did stripes in my office to give it a punch of color but we used regular painters tape and yup, it bled and we had to correct quite a few spots, I am excited to try the frog stuff in the future, thanks for the info on it. Thanks for stopping by, I am more than happy to be following you back. :) Have a great weekend!

  30. The room looks awesome,it's just enough "splash" making the room feel exciting. I bet your girls love it. I have an amazing tool that is new on the market called the U-Stripe It & Design Tool. This tool allows everyone to paint straight, accurate lines on their walls without any frustrations. After you pick the size of stripe, you place the tool on the wall and it will help you guide your Frog Tape down the wall giving you your straight lines. All your readers now will be able to do this same design or change the lines horizontal with the assistance of this tool. The room is beautiful, thanks. www.ustripeit.com

  32. I am going to try and copy this, but horizontal across my living room wall :) It is absolutely stunning. Will defo get some frog tape. I have twin baby girls, so we are at home a lot. I am imagining it will be quite a time consuming project, but no doubt well worth the effort. I will post a picture when done! Thanks for the inspiration.
